“Trumpeter Chris Battistone and I go back over 20 years. We have performed together, he recorded with me and wrote an arrangement for my 1998 debut-CD “Perdido”, and he has even helped me improve my ear from time to time. Chris’ playing is always so tasteful, he makes me think of Harry ‘Sweets’ Edison. Enjoy him backing up Christiana and his solo on the opening tune. I loved trading 8’s with Chris on “You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To”. He reminds me of Randy Brecker, along with Bob and Dominic really laying down the rhythm…Chris Battistone’s cool and tasteful trumpet lines complement this cut, as well as the title tune, “I’ve Got the World on a String”, “You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To”, “There’s a Small Hotel”, “You’re Looking At Me”.” — Christiana Drapkin
“I just want to mention a few things about my teacher – Chris Battistone. I’ve been studying with him for a while now and he has really helped me improve in all areas of my playing. We spend an equal amount of time addressing how to approach the trumpet AND how to improvise. My wife and I had the pleasure of checking him out at Blues Alley and he showed that he can do way more than just talk the talk. He’s killer talented. I truly feel that I am in good hands. He also takes the time to answer all the emails that I send him regularly asking questions. Chris – if you’re reading this… thanks a million!” — JazzBrew
“I have been taking jazz lessons for years, but I never understood how to improvise until I began lessons from Mr. Battistone. I leave every one of his lessons more confident, with much more understanding about jazz theory and what I am supposed to do when it is my turn to take a solo. He is a wall of information.” — Simone Summers
Chris graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas in 1983.
He grew up in Frederick, Maryland, graduating from Thomas Johnson High School. Chris Battistone resides in Silver Spring, Maryland. Book one of his combos by contacting him at chris.battistone@gmail.com or (301) 593-7940
